Westsyde is a thriving community of about 5,000 people in the city of Kamloops (which has a population of about 90,000). Westsyde is located between the North Thompson River and the Lac Du Bois grasslands area, and it is mostly residential, with small shops, a pool and fitness facility and parks.
Westsyde Secondary School is the smallest of the in-town secondary schools in the Kamloops-Thompson School District, with approximately 690 students.
